Afton C. Williamson, who currently serves as the understudy to Kerry Washington in Race on Broadway, will take over the role of Susan in the drama. Williamson will begin performances in David Mamet’s play, which was directed by the author, on June 15 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
Williamson’s stage credits include I Have Before Me A Remarkable Document Given To Me By A Young Lady From Rwanda (Vermont Stage Company), Crowns, The Beaux Strategem, Cymbeline, Romeo and Juliet, The Count of Monte Cristo, Dr. Faustus, Death of a Salesman, James and the Giant Peach and Richard III.
As previously announced, original stars Washington and David Alan Grier will play their final performances on June 13. James Spader will play his final performance on June 20. Richard Thomas will continue in the play. Williamson is the second new addition to the summer casting for Race, joining Dennis Haysbert, who is making his Broadway debut. The third new addition will be announced shortly.
